Study visit to Berlin as part of the “Women in Energy United for Ukraine” project

On August 23–25, 2022, Viktoria Vostryakova and Olena Rubanenko, representatives of the NGO “SINERGIA Sustainable Development Agency,” visited Berlin as part of the Women’s Energy Club of Ukraine delegation under the Women in Energy United for Ukraine project. The project is being implemented as part of a collaboration between the Women’s Energy Club of Ukraine and the German Energy Agency (dena).
During the three-day study visit, representatives of the Ukrainian energy sector attended a series of events and meetings focused on building partnerships and identifying priority areas for supporting both women working in the energy sector and the Ukrainian energy sector as a whole. During a meeting with representatives of dena, the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership та Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz the participants learned about the German government’s main priorities for supporting Ukraine’s energy transition in the near term amid Russia’s military aggression. In addition, during meetings with relevant German organizations—the German Solar Industry Association (BSW) and the German Renewable Energy Association (BEE)—they discussed the prospects for developing projects in the renewable energy sector.

The participants also learned about leading German practices and projects in the field of renewable energy by visiting the offices of EUREF-Campus and the smart ecosystem of GASAG, the system operator 50 Hertz, the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) biogas plant, the Efficiency House Plus information and training center for energy-efficient building design, and the Tennet Virtual Vision office, which employs a unique communication strategy and combines state-of-the-art energy and multimedia technologies to visually demonstrate the workings of Germany’s renewable energy sector.
