This online course was created by the NGO “SYNERGY Sustainable Development Agency” as part of the Ukrainian-German project Repower Green Ukraine “Energy Transition 2022,” implemented by the WECHANGE cooperative (Germany) in cooperation with the NGO “EcoClub” with financial support from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

The course aims to enhance the target audience’s practical skills and encourage the use of sustainable (environmentally and energy-efficient, as well as socially responsible) energy solutions in the design of energy infrastructure to provide heat and electricity for small-scale architectural structures for on-site consumption (off-grid technologies) for IDPs.

Who will benefit from our course?

Senior students majoring in energy and engineering; architects; engineers; energy managers; representatives of local governments and amalgamated territorial communities responsible for social policy, the energy sector, and environmental issues; representatives of civil society organizations.

The online educational course consists of 5 modules:

1 Module — International Experience with Renewable Energy Sources. Adapting Off-the-Shelf Solutions for Heat and Power Supply in Shelters to Ukrainian Conditions (2 video lectures)

2 Module — Software for designing solar-powered power supply systems for shelters and IDP camps (2 video lectures)

3 Module — Features of power supply systems operating in stand-alone mode and in parallel with a centralized system (2 video lectures)

4 Module — The Use of Renewable Energy Sources to Provide Power to Internally Displaced Persons

5 Module — Energy storage systems for the electrification of off-grid facilities.

Legal and Regulatory Framework (2 video lectures).

The thematic modules include video lectures with integrated presentation materials and text descriptions below each video. Each module is accompanied by quizzes (automated assessment) and an assignment for practical application and the development of a personal project (group work), real-time online consultation (a 20-minute Q&A session per lecture), as well as a final test and project presentations, based on the results of which successful participants are automatically issued a course completion certificate.

Upon completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to receive a certificate of course completion (30–90 hours) or a certificate of professional development (180 hours), depending on the amount of material covered, test results, and project work.
